sandcastle day

Cannon Beach is widely known as an art community and each year on Sandcastle Day, our beach is transformed into a temporary gallery of imaginative sand sculptures.     Sandcastle Day has been a tradition in Cannon Beach since 1964.  It has grown into one of the largest sand building contests on the West Coast.  Join us as a participant or spectator to enjoy this unique art form.

Registration closes at 4:00pm on Thursday, June 11th.  Limited to 150 entries.   To be eligible for the Master's Division you must have won awards in large division at this or other sandcastle contests.   Choice of subject is up to contestants.  This is a wholesome, family-fun time, risque' sculptures are unacceptable.   Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

One plot per entry.  No sand may added to or removed from the plot.  Water may be used to set sand.  Only objects natural to the beach may be used along with the sand, for example seaweed and driftwood.   All plots are 21'x21' except for Masters (30'x30') and Sand Fleas (9'x9').  Sand Fleas share a plot.  Plot location is determined by the Chamber of Commerce.
